Parent Partnership & Settling In
We believe that your child’s life at nursery should be a partnership between parents and
practitioners and we welcome parents’ involvement at every stage. Communication between
home and nursery is paramount to your child benefitting the most from his/her time with us.
Each family will be designated their own special ‘Nurturer’. This is a staff member who is
devoted to you and your child as a focal point throughout their time with us and is the person
who you can ask advice, information or support, someone who will get to know you and your
child very well.
There will be numerous times throughout the year when you can come and formally look at
your child’s achievements at nursery, see their Individual Development Record and have the
opportunity to add to this sharing observations you have made at home, However, the best
communication is daily, when you are dropping off, or picking up. Tell us whether they slept
well or what toys or hobbies they have been pursuing at home. Staff are always available to
talk to parents and we actively encourage you to enter into dialogue with us.
For observation, assessment and tracking of children’s progress we use an online interactive
learning journal called “Parent Zone”. This is password protected and only you can see the
infomation about your child. You can login and keep track of what your child has been up to
during the day, including feeding, sleeping and nappy changing.
We will also work closely with you to help mirror any routines from home asking you to share
your child’s likes, dislikes, routines and any special requirements. This will help us to make
sure your child feels comfortable and secure once in the setting.
Nurture operates an open door policy. You are truly welcome to visit at any time, come to see us in action, drop by for a chat or phone up to ask a question or check how your child has settled.
